The Rimau-1 rocket, designed for the IREC 2025 10,000 ft COTS category, utilizes the AeroTech M2500T reloadable solid rocket motor. This M-class motor, certified by TRA, delivers an average thrust of 2,500 N and a total impulse of 9,671 Ns over a 3.85-second burn time, powered by Blue Thunder™ propellant. Its 98mm diameter and 8.06 kg total weight (including 4.71 kg propellant) were selected for compatibility with the rocket’s airframe and optimal apogee performance. The choice of a reloadable motor enhances cost-efficiency for future competitions, aligning with UTM Rocketry’s design goals.
